  • Bradford No1 Angling Association

With around 2500 members, Bradford No1 AA is one of the largest angling clubs in the whole of England. The club offers a portfolio of 11 lakes, 59 stretches of river and 4 canals (including over 9 miles of the Aire & Calder Canal) throughout West and North Yorkshire which caters perfectly for most types of angling and suitable for all levels of angling ability. At just £5 per year for juniors, the club offers real value for money.

Annual membership for the club for 2014 costs as little as £44 for seniors and £24 for intermediates, ladies and OAPs and allows members unlimited access to all of the association waters. More details and how to purchase can be found on

The club offers excellent tench and bream fishing at Queen Mary's Ponds in Ripon, Knotford, Kirklees Lagoon and Raskelf lake with specimens going into double figures. Specimen carp can be found in all of the clubs still waters, and even some of the canals and rivers, but are present in greater stocks at both Knotford and Kirklees. These two waters are also available to be night fished by way of a separate permit which makes the lakes even more accessible and allows members improve catch rates further.

The vast array of river stretches that the club offers include some of the best pike, barbel, chub, trout and roach fishing in the whole of Yorkshire. From the peace and tranquility of the River Swale to industrial rivers such as the River Calder, the club holds fishing rights to stretches of river suitable for everyone.

An active match scene is run by the club throughout the year on lakes, rivers and canals which includes members and open matches for all ages from juniors, open age and veterans. The yearly Calder Championship attracts around 100 anglers competing for the £500 guaranteed first prize.
